Bronx Museum of the Arts
This once tiny gallery in the county courthouse rotunda has grown into 33,000 square feet of exhibition space behind a glass accordion-like façade. Dedicated to the modern, urban art of Latin, African, and Asian-American artists like Emilio Sanchez, Antoni Muntadas, and Juan Downey, the museum hosts rotating temporary exhibitions throughout the year alongside a permanent collection of 800 sculptures, photographs, paintings, and mixed media instillations. The museum’s peak event is the biennial Artist in Marketplace program that features a large exhibition of thirty-six upcoming, New York City-based artists.
