Locally made jam, honey, and Minnesota-harvested wild rice make great take-home goodies. Stroll the booths of organic produce at Minneapolis's Mill City Farmers Market (May-October at Chicago Avenue and 2nd Street S.) along the Mississippi River, and track down samples of the buttery, homemade Edna's Caramels, sometimes handed out by Edna herself. Then head to 5th and Wall streets, where the friendly downtown St. Paul Farmers' Market is bustling outside from May through November (indoors the rest of the year). Pick up a copy of the market's cookbook and taste your way through local produce, cheese, sausage, and chocolate.
