Monterey Bay Aquarium

California's innovative fish tank lets you walk under a kelp canopy and get nose-to-nose with sea otters. Check out the exotic jellyfish, and the million-gallon Outer Bay tank with hammerhead sharks and sea turtles. In 2008, its Splash Zone, an interactive exhibit for kids, doubled in size—now you can (gently) pet a living abalone in the display's expanded touch pool.
