Gallery Preview Nights

Print
Houston , Texas

Museums aren't Houston's only art venue. The city's gallery scene is one of the hottest in the country, with Thursday and Friday preview parties, open to all, serving as a weekly pulse-reading of local creative energy. It's a bit spread out, from River Oaks (Texas Gallery; 2012 Peden Street; www.texgal.com) to Midtown (Inman Gallery; 3901 Main Street; www.inmangallery.com), the Heights (Hiram Butler/Devin Borden, 4520 Blossom), and Montrose (where Barbara Davis, Wade Wilson, and other dealers show off the artists they represent at 4411 Montrose), but that just makes gallery-hopping all the more fun. There's often wine and cheese, and the presence of well-heeled collectors rubbing shoulders with artists in grubby blue jeans is guaranteed.
