Conservatory of Flowers

100 John F. Kennedy Dr.
San Francisco , CA , United States
(415) 831-2090

The Conservatory of Flowers in the Golden Gate Park is beautiful in itself: The manicured lawns and gardens surround this wooden Victorian conservatory that is one of the oldest in the world. It's divided into four sections: aquatic plants, highland tropics, lowland tropics, and potted plants. The highland tropics include delicate orchids and lush ferns while the main attractions of the aquatic plants are the Amazon lilies, which can grow to six feet in diameter. Special exhibits are frequently displayed, such as a recent "wicked plants" presentation about deadly, infamous plants like the strychnine tree. Docent tours are available most days at 11:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2:30 p.m., and admission on the first Tuesday of every month is free.
