SMoCA

In an effort to lure non-museum types, this trendsetting institution began sponsoring SMoCA Nights a few years back. Typically including a fashion show featuring local designers (the catwalk runs down the center of one of SMoCA's galleries), free hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar, and DJ music, the occasional evenings (they happen a few times a year) are wildly popular with local scenesters and museum patrons alike. One installment entitled “Drive” presented low-rider fashions in celebration of a concurrent exhibition about car culture. Arrive early to avoid the crush; the dress code is definitely glam.
