Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett, and Arlo Guthrie are a few of the names that have graced the stage of this annual Hill Country music festival. Rod Kennedy started it in 1972, and the 18-day festival brings in more than 30,000 fans yearly. Singer-songwriter musicians are the emphasis, giving budding artists a chance to show their material and sing along with their idols. Many choose to camp on the grounds in tents or RVs, oftentimes resulting in jam sessions that are on par with the stage music.
