Alla Prima Studio

Inspired by her international art education, Napa native Gretchen Kimball founded Alla Prima Studio as a way to bring both novice and experienced artists together to absorb and paint her hometown’s landscape. Having worked in the tasting room at Quintessa winery, Kimball often brings her classes to the estate’s vineyards, although seasonal retreats may also include trips to the iris gardens of Steel Canyon or the 1864 Blue Grist Mill. Each two-day class is limited to 10 participants and includes all the materials and instruction necessary for plein air (outdoor) painting. Kimball also provides a picnic lunch with local wines.
