Jim Meehan (an F&W contributing editor) obsesses over obscure classic cocktails at this exceptional unmarked lounge, accessed through a phone booth inside Crif Dogs, an East Village hot dog joint. The bartenders mix excellent pre-Prohibition drinks and modern concoctions like the Benton’s Old-Fashioned—made with bacon-infused bourbon—and there are hedonistic snacks like bacon-wrapped hot dogs and Tater Tots smothered with cheese and chorizo gravy.
