The Roxy

In a town where martinis and serious conversation are the nighttime norm, this local haunt is—refreshingly—all about beer and laughter. The place—a clubby room with exposed brick, plain wooden tables, and neon beer signs—gets hopping every night of the week with a pleasing mix of regulars, many in their late 20s and 30s (although 40-somethings feel comfortable here, too). Live bands play almost every evening (a schedule is on the bar's Web site), but crowds seem to come no matter who's on stage.
