LAX Nightclub
Opened on Labor Day 2007 in the newly revved-up Luxor, LAX is 26,000 square feet of opulence, with black chandeliers and Art Nouveau balustrades surrounding the second-floor gallery. To those who remember getting sanctified at New York's Limelight (a church-turned-club) in the 80's and 90's, the Gothic atmosphere will feel familiar. Though it does host some events of questionable taste (the Miss LAX Bikini Contests, for instance), it's also a current favorite of celebrities and those who like to spot them. Christina Aguilera and DJ AM are investors, and Paris Hilton has hosted parties here. Those lucky (and wealthy) enough to score a VIP table can watch the action on the dance floor below from the private, red-curtained tables on the second floor. A grand, wrought-iron staircase connects the two floors for those who feel like making an entrance. Or exit.
