Don’t be surprised if you can’t find the entry to this wood-paneled hotel bar—it’s 150 feet from the entrance of the exclusive, hillside Chateau Marmont and hidden behind a pointed, plant-covered rooftop. But once the door swings open (promptly at 6 p.m.), you’ll find yourself on a cozy patio, with wicker chairs and candlelit marble tables, where a see-and-be-seen crowd gathers for after-work Bellinis made with fresh fruit purées. Inside, hungry revelers order bar snacks or hearty dinners (chef Carolynn Spence comes from New York’s hottest gastropub, the Spotted Pig), and night owls sway to the beats of European turntablists, who start spinning after dark. Stargazers should plan to stay late; celebs tend to make their appearances after midnight.
