Nancy Hunt and husband Randy Goodman opened Bar Avignon in Southeast Portland in 2008, naming their restaurant and wine bar for a French city where they took memorable vacations. The glass-fronted space features wood-backed banquettes, cushioned brown booths, a geometric black walnut bar, and exposed wood rafters. The Europe-centric wine list makes room for Oregon Pinot Noirs. Most foods are made in-house, including charcuterie and pasta. The menu changes seasonally, but enduring classics include the pork chop, as well as the flourless chocolate cake with salted caramel sauce.
