Consistently voted the best bakery in the city, Franklin Street has been selling fresh breads, pastries, and cakes since 1998. Inside the spacious, red-brick building in Ventura Village, patrons can pick up breakfast pastries, such as almond croissants and carrot cream cheese muffins, as well as grilled sandwiches at lunchtime. The main draw, however, is the wide array of sweet items, which range from macaroons and iced ginger cookies to specialty cupcakes in flavors like lemon vanilla bean and milk chocolate ganache. The strawberry vanilla cupcake, topped with strawberry mousse frosting and an edible orchid, is particularly popular.
